Private House, Cotswolds

The internal refurbishment of a Grade II listed cottage within the grounds of a large country house in the Cotswolds.

The refurbishment was undertaken in order to provide high quality staff accommodation.

Plaster repairs and the levelling of floors were followed by the upgrading of the electrical and mechanical installation and new feature lighting.

The bathroom and en-suite shower room were remodelled; natural slate floors laid to the entire ground floor; 2 wood burning stoves installed together with a new conservation roof light.

Prior to redecoration, bespoke kitchen and utility units with slate worktops, wardrobes, cupboards, book shelves and replacement doors were all supplied by Kingerlee Joinery and fitted by our in house carpenters.

14-16 Lathbury Road, Oxford

The refurbishment and upgrading of existing student accommodation to provide 16 en-suite rooms and warden accommodation.

Works comprised a full scaffold and temporary roof to enable complete re-roofing, construction of three new dormer windows and removal of chimney stacks.

New openings have been formed in external walls to receive bespoke, hardwood sash windows provided by Kingerlee Joinery together with the replacement of all existing windows.

Shower/WC pods were installed in all student rooms including 2 disabled rooms.

Works included the complete renewal of mechanical and electrical installations.

Eling Farm Barns, Oxfordshire

This project involved the structural repair and re-roofing of 9 listed barns.

Works were undertaken while the farm remained in full operational use and was timed so as to have no effect on existing bat colonies or seasonal swallow nesting.

Scaffold was erected to all barns to enable the stripping and re-roofing of all elevations utilising as many salvaged tiles as possible and to facilitate the structural repairs.

One of the barns was in dangerous condition with a severe lean and had to be jacked and straightened before any repairs could be undertaken, Another of the barns required underpinning on one elevation.

All barns underwent varying degrees of structural repairs to trusses, beams & plates and most received a proportion of bespoke new doors and windows provided by Kingerlee Joinery. Timber treatment was also undertaken to all barns.

All products used on the project were as approved by Natural England.

New Houses, Sutton Courtnay, Oxfordshire
This development features four new homes.

Each property is individually designed and built to the higher levels of the Government's Code for Sustainable Homes.

These houses, which include a barn conversion, benefit from considerably reduced carbon emissions and running costs. Using modern methods of construction, including thermally efficient cellular clay block walling, wood fibre based insulation, and heat recovery from ventilation systems, the accent is upon the performance of the fabric of each building to produce comfortable, yet environmentally friendly homes.

 The Natural House, BRE, Watford

The Prince's Foundation, in collaboration with Kingerlee, The Building Research Establishment and Natural Building Technologies are engaged on this high-profile build project that will demonstrate that the most effective route to a low energy, low carbon building is through an effective building envelope. This is to be delivered by employing natural building materials.

Kingerlee are committed to being a leader in advancing environmental and sustainability standards and processes in the construction sector. The Group, through its development company, applies commercial tests to prospective projects, considering for example not just the cost during production, but the medium-term cost and real carbon footprint, leading on to a view or measure of the whole life cycle impact of each proposal.
