Thatched Private House, Oxfordshire

This project is a 7 Bed Detached House with Swimming Pool and Associated works for private client in Oxfordshire.

We are delighted to be working with Richard Parr Architects on this ground breaking 21st century country house.

The property will be a 1600m2 thatched structure nestled into six hectares of stunning Oxfordshire countryside and is formed of two connecting wings which are positioned around a top lit glazed gallery. Two stone chimneys form focal points within the 50m wide house with fireplaces on the ground floor. The house has a basement providing a cinema and gym built with reinforced concrete.

The Structure is built on concrete foundations and insitu concrete ground floor slab ( approx. 1000m3 concrete) with part steel frame and Oak glulam beams forming the roof structure with oak boarding to the underside.

The external façade is a mix of local Great Tew quarry stone (ashlar and rubble walling) and glass with eyebrow windows formed in the thatched roof. The house has a separate energy centre supplying the services to the house and pool.

Internally the finishes are generally oak and stone floors with stone and render finished walls, there are a number of bespoke joinery items to be fitted.

The pool and outbuilding is a separate building to the house with an adjoining path. Externally the grounds with be landscaped and planted with features in keeping with the surroundings.
