Exciting news!
We’re delighted to share that our project at Wadham College, Oxford, has been shortlisted for an Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT) Award.
This conservation project carried out by our Special Projects team focused on the re-roofing of the North Range in the Front Quad. Great care was taken to preserve the building’s architectural integrity by restoring and reusing the majority of the original stone slates, ensuring the college’s historic character remains intact.
To enhance the building’s sustainability, new hemp insulation was installed to improve the thermal performance of the roof. Existing lead downpipes and hoppers were restored, while the original oak dormer windows were sensitively repaired on site, retaining their authentic craftsmanship and detail.
Further improvements to energy efficiency were achieved through the installation of secondary glazing throughout the top-floor bedrooms, using Finero Heritage vacuum glass, a modern solution designed to complement the historic fabric of the building.
We look forward to the awards ceremony in November and to celebrating alongside the other shortlisted projects.
