This project involved the re-roofing, insulation, and structural repairs of a renowned Oxfordshire college. The majority of the original stone slates were carefully restored and reused, preserving the institution’s distinctive historic character.
To enhance the building’s performance, new hemp insulation was introduced, significantly improving the thermal efficiency of the roofing. Existing lead downpipes and hoppers were meticulously refurbished, while original oak dormer windows were sensitively repaired on-site to retain their authenticity.
Further upgrades included the installation of secondary glazing in the top-floor bedrooms, using ‘Finero Heritage’ vacuum glass, providing modern thermal efficiency without compromising the building’s architectural heritage.
